The library is open 7:30-8:30 every morning for students to exchange books. I will be at Maplewood mornings this year and all day on Day 2.
Kindergarteners are allowed only one book, but they may exchange it every day if they choose to do so. First graders can check out two, and second and third grades three books. Any time I am in the building they may exchange their books if needed - or they can ask their classroom to teacher to help them exchange materials if I am not here. Materials are checked out for a week, but a student may bring something in to renew it if they are not done with it in a week. Lost or damaged materials are the responsibility of the family of the student who had the material checked out. While trying to be linient in this regard, I am also trying to instill responsibility in the students for taking care of things that are not their own.
